About

Heather Dommer, ARNP, FNP-C, MSN, has joined the Survivorship Clinic team at the Helen G. Nassif Community Cancer Center. Heather earned her bachelor’s in nursing from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, and her master’s in nursing from Allen College in Waterloo. Heather is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Heather became a nurse because of her love of people and caring for them. She went into cancer care because she had several family members diagnosed with cancer who she cared for and she has cared for many others in her career. When caring for her patients Heather likes to listen, problem solve, and put the patient’s needs first. The thing that motivates her each day is seeing her patients smile.

“The best part [of my job] is seeing someone come in scared and concerned and leave with a smile on their face, feeling supported.”

The Helen G. Nassif Community Cancer Center Survivorship Clinic brings together the support and prevention services cancer survivors need to transition from active treatment to post-treatment wellness. Providers at the Survivorship Clinic work with the survivor years after their cancer treatment is complete, offering assistance with education, prevention, surveillance, intervention, coordination and more.
