About

Melissa Janssen, MSN, ARNP, FNP-BC, is a genetics nurse practitioner at the Helen G. Nassif Community Cancer Center.

She graduated with her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Mount Mercy College and her Master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Janssen is board certified by the Iowa Board of Nursing and the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Melissa chose to go into healthcare because she “wanted to have a positive impact in people’s healthcare journey’s.”

Melissa is motivated each day by knowing she can make a difference for our patients. “Knowing I made even a small positive impact in someone’s day or care means it was a good day!”

Melissa’s message to patients is, “I try to bring a unique understanding to each patient encounter and try to relate to and understand the emotions the patient is experiencing. I hope this offers a sense of confidence and eases some anxiety.”

In her free time, Melissa enjoys spending time outdoors and cheering on her children in their various activities.
