COVID-19 Vaccine info for 65+

COVID Vaccine

To UnityPoint Health patients,

Earlier today, Linn County Public Health announced that anyone age 65 or older will become eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine on January 26. UnityPoint Health is excited to start vaccinating patients soon, and we are busy finalizing operational plans and requesting more vaccine allocation to quickly and safely begin public vaccinations.

Here is what you can expect from us:
• Based on state and local public health guidelines, if you are eligible based off age (ex: 65+), we will notify you via phone, text or direct mail when you are able to schedule an appointment.
• If you are eligible based off your place of employment or occupation (ex: police officer), we encourage you to closely monitor communication from your local public health department or employer. We will continue to partner with the local public health department on the best strategies to vaccinate and communicate to these groups of individuals.
• We expect COVID-19 vaccines to be widely available to the general public later in 2021.

We ask that you please not call your clinic requesting the vaccine at this time, as a high volume of calls makes it more difficult to address those patients with immediate needs. We appreciate your patience as the vaccine rollout continues.

If you have questions about receiving the COVID vaccine, visit our website at unitypoint.org as well as check out the Pfizer and Moderna Vaccine Fact Sheets from the FDA.

In the meantime, we encourage everyone, including those who have received the vaccine, to wear a face covering, social distance and wash your hands frequently in order to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Learn about the COVID-19 vaccine from fact-based sources, such as the FDA and CDC. Please contact your health care provider if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
